WHY BAST?
Bast or Bastet is the ancient Egyptian cat goddess. She was protector of the home and children, but also the goddess of music and wine. The ancient Egyptians thought so highly of cats, that it was the death penalty for harming one. Cats were necessary to hunt rodents that endangered the grain supply.
When I began BAST more than ten years ago, I wanted a name that would be different from the usual metal themes but still be recognizable and strong.
BAST is written by metalheads for metalheads. Our love for our music surpasses most other desires in our lives. We are banded together to write about the best in extreme music, as well as other numerous interests for the sake of every metalhead on the planet.
